Geneva Green Market!

Today is Thursday! Geneva Green Market Day! I went shopping just before lunch, and picked up some bread, some baked goods, and several cheeses to feed to my family and my out-of-town guests this evening. I am happy to report that based upon my personal observations, the Market is really growing! More vendors and definitely more shoppers! If you haven't stopped down yet, mark your calendar for next Thursday!

Brass Band

My daughter and I visited RiverPark last night to see a performance by the Prairie Brass Band. It was an outstanding performance, with a diverse program and extremely talented musicians. Thank you to Geneva's Cultural Arts Commission for sponsoring the event!

Garden Gate

I spent part of the afternoon with an old friend at the Fabayn Forest Preserve today, and while I was there, snapped this photo of the garden gate for my talented and beautiful sister, who is celebrating a birthday today!

Tennis Camp

This week, my daughter began a tennis camp sponsored by Geneva High School. For the next three weeks, I will have no excuse not to grab my own racket every day and get a little exercise while I wait for her! I packed my bag with my rackets, some new tennis balls, water, a first aid kit, and most importantly, the name of our local sports medicine doctor. I think I am all set.

Apple Scrapple?

I didn't know what Apple Scrapple was either, but it sure sounded good! Unfortunately, I didn't have time yesterday to stop in for a free sample. However, I did notice the new tables and chairs nestled among the beautiful planters outside the store! As a huge fan of outdoor dining (and snacking), it is certain that I will make some time to stop in this week!

French Market

It was a perfect day for a walk, and so yesterday morning I found myself off of South Street at the Geneva French Market. There was a pretty nice crowd, and the sunny weather seemed to make everyone pretty cheerful...save one seller, who insisted in very clear English that I not photograph her beautiful wares. No matter, I still found reason to linger for a little while, and marvel at the quality of the produce. Having returned recently from Lithuania, I am newly fond of potatoes, and these were outstanding with my Sunday dinner!
